Add to basketSoft cover. Condition: Fine. 372 pages, illustrated. Picture-keyed for identifying many beetles. Contains an introduction, a section about beetles in general, picture keys to the families, genera and species of common beetles, sub-order Adephaga, sub order Polyphaga including Trimera, Heteromera, Tetramera and Scarabaeoidae (Lam…ellicornia), Rhynchophora (Snout Beetles), index and picture glossary. Sample entry: 35b Prosternum without a lobe, labium hidden, cannot click as above, small size figure 191, family 52 Melasidae - this is a small family of non-clicking click beetles. Few if any of the less than 100 known species are at all common. Many of the species live in decaying wood or under bark, others are taken by sweeping. The larvae are more like those of the Buprestidae than of the Elateridae, with which family this group was once included. etc. This is an average size and detail entry. Many entries go into much more detail. Most entries have cross-reference numbers to aid the reader in finding related sections in the book. This is a spiral ring bound volume, rescued from a school library. Other than a few stamps and a little rubbing of covers, the book is in excellent condition. Illustrated (illustrator).
