A tight very good copy in illustrated paper covered boards with some minor wear to the edges, a tiny chip to the top corner of the second page and some of the usual toning to the pages. A nicer than usual copy of a book that is very prone to wear.

Salinger was subsequently drafted, and the work's reappearance in the Kit Book caught the attention of his superior officers, who assigned him to the Air Force Service Command's Public Relations Department.
