Paperback. Condition: Very Good. 1st thus. The first British paperback edition of a hardcover title first published in 1948 by Cresset Press. A High Court judge is accused of a murder "he had every reason to commit," leading to "a trial in which the case against the accused mercilessly advances, fact by fact, towards his indictment and sentence." 200 pages + a page of advertisements for other Pocket Books (G.B.) titles. Mild edgewear, 1" tear to top right spine edge, subsequent 1" diagonal crease to top left corner of front cover, 1/4" tear to bottom right spine edge. Internally tight and clean. Size: 16mo - over 5¾ - 6¾" tall. Book.
