Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First Edition. An apparent first edition, with no previous printings mentioned, published by Thomas Nelson sometime in the 1920s [judging by the format of the book and design of the dustwrapper. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece and line drawings within the…text by W. Lindsay Cable. Published in the "New Era" Series - 'A Specially Attractive New Series of Rewards - Attractive Bindings and Jackets - Wonderful Value - Cloth, 2s. 6d. net' [as stated at the top of the catalogue at the back of the book]. ***Near fine in blue cloth-covered boards with dark-blue titles on the spine, and dark-blue titles and illustration to the front board. The titles are nice and bright, and the boards are beautifully clean, having been protected by the dustwrapper. No bumps, creases or tears. Corners sharp. The cloth of the spine is not torn, just slightly rubbed on the back board near the spine, and is beautifully clean and bright. Top edge of page block darkened. Internally, the book is also near fine, with no inscriptions and clean pages. Printed on quality paper. No offsetting or foxing. The interior pages are uncreased. Spine tight. ***In a very good original colour printed dustwrapper, that has been corner price-clipped. The dustwrapper is largely complete, with some loss at the top of the spine, but not affecting the titles. There is associated creasing and rubbing at the top of the spine. Some creasing and rubbing to the extremities, with very slight loss at the corner tips. The spine of the dustwrapper is clean and has no browning or fading. The dustwrapper is really clean and bright, and presents very well. [please see scans] ***283 pages plus a five-page publisher's catalogue at the back of the book. 195 mm x 145 mm. ***'Stirring adventure on a small tramp steamer -- and off. Jim's troubles and successes are delightfully told, and the resulting story is something very definitely out of the ordinary.' [Quote taken from the front flap of the dustwrapper] ***An apparent first edition, with no mention of any previous printings, published in the 1920s, in the original dustwrapper. A beautiful copy of this period children's book, in near fine condition. Copies of children's books from this period in such well-preserved condition are extremely scarce today. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc. W.
