First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Illustrated with Scenes from the Warner Brothers Film, Which Starred Al Jolson (illustrator). First Edition, First Printing. Blue boards with dark blue lettering. One scuff on the spine and one on the slower front cover. A classic American novel made into a classic film. One of the rare times Grosset & Dunlap published the original, which came about because De Haas adapted the original play by Raphaelson Samson into a novel.

Photograph
Vintage reference photograph from the 1927 film. Based on the 1925 play by Samson Raphaelson. The first feature film with both a synchronized recorded score and lip-synchronized singing and dialogue, effectively signaling the end of the silent era. At the first Oscars, producer Daryl F. Zanuck received an Honorary Academy Award and the film was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay, though it was declared ineligible to compete for Best Picture in fairness to the nominated silent films. 8 x 10 inches. Very Good plus, with a small chip at one corner, and a small bruise at another corner. Hirschhorn, The Hollywood Musical.
