Add to basketPaperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is a dictionary of the Scottish language. It is based on the work of several scholars and lexicographers, but it is unique in several respects. First, it is the first dictionary of the Scottish language to be based on historical principles. Second, it is the first dictionary of the Scottish language to be published in a single volume. Third, it is the first dictionary of the Scottish language to include a comprehensive treatment of the dialects of Scotland. The author argues that the Scottish language is not a dialect of English, but rather a separate language with its own history and development. He provides a wealth of evidence to support this claim, including historical documents, literary texts, and linguistic analysis. The author's conclusion is that the Scottish language is a vibrant and distinct language that deserves to be recognized as such. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
