Very Good: Some discolouration to the original cloth binding, though binding is well in tact and free of blemishes, tears etc, and lettering along the spine is crisp and legible. Good text block and page edges. Pages throughout remain tightly bound, clean and tidy, never thumbed or opened. A First Edition Review copy. Rubber stamped on the title page. Valued by collectors as an early and influential attempt to make Joyce accessible, and as a period piece reflecting mid-twentieth-century responses to modernism. James Joyce and the Plain Reader by Charles Duff is a clear, approachable guide designed to demystify Joyce's complex and often intimidating work. With wit and practical explanation, Duff breaks down Joyce's style, themes, and techniques, helping general readers engage more confidently with novels like Ulysses and Finnegans Wake.
