Issued in conjunction with a 2005 exhibition of artwork by James Castle (1900-1977), "Idaho's best known self-taught artist, a man of immense talent who did not receive formal art training. Castle grew up on a farm in rural Garden Valley, Idaho, at the turn of the century, the son of the postmaster and the fifth of seven children. Born with disabilities, he was never able to hear or speak. At an early age he began to express himself through drawing. [This book] is the companion voluime to an exhibition presented at the Boise Art Museum that showcases James Castle's extraordinary works of art from the Museum's Permanent Collection and a selection of works on loan from J Crist Gallery."
