Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Claxton, Remsen & Haffelfinger, Philadelphia, 1878. Good. Raspberry colored boards with a pebbled surface and embossed decorations, beveled edges. Title in gilt on front cover and on spine. Spine is badly sunned so that the color of the board has faded; the gilt title is still fine however. 176 pages, shows some starting at the signatures but the text block is square and still flows well. Text block is generally clean, but there are occasional stains.

The story of an orphaned young woman who is living with relatives in an urban setting (frst chapter describing here arrival: what to do with her? )

This is a rare book with Vari Library revealing just one other copy available online as of this posting (June 20).
