İ 1966: 2nd in the 'Dag Fletcher' series of books. 1st printing of 1967 hardback edition. UK SFBC #124:- Synopsis (A.I. generated): Set in a future where humanity has mastered space travel, the novel follows a deep-space exploration mission to a distant star system, with much of the plot centering around the mysteries and dangers that arise during the journey. The story primarily focuses on the crew of the starship Dawn, which is dispatched to explore an unexplored star system, known as "Two-Five". The system contains several habitable planets, but there's an underlying mystery surrounding it - something about the system seems to be. off. The crew quickly learns that their mission is not just about scientific discovery, but about survival and uncovering secrets that were never meant to be discovered. The novel delves into themes of isolation, trust, and the unknown, with the crew members encountering strange phenomena, both natural and unnatural, as they explore the planets. Tensions build among the crew as they deal with the psychological strain of their mission, as well as the strange, otherworldly forces at work in the system. One of the core elements of 'Interstellar Two-Five' is the exploration of human nature when pushed to the limits of endurance and understanding. The further the crew goes into the unknown, the more they realize how little they truly know about the universe and their own place within it. This evolving understanding, mixed with a sense of existential dread, creates a tense and thought-provoking atmosphere throughout the novel:- (original cost unmarked).
