Though without his usual ownership stamp, this copy from the personal library of Luis Freile, credited with the 1st commercial atlas of the moon in his capacity as cartographer at Rand McNally. Freile's scattered light scholalrly marginalia in chapters 2 &3 relating to the gravcitational field of the earth and the force required by a rocket to escape that field etc. Dust jacket lightly toned surfaces and with light shelf rubbing, a few shallow nicks and short closed tears at edges. Illustrated with b&w photos, figures, graphs and diagrams. Clarke's early scientific musings on travel to the moon and beyond. VG-/VG-.

A great copy of a wonderfully interesting book. very good An interesting essay on the subject of traveling to other planets, and was undoubtedly state of the art at the time it was written. Today, given our large advances since the time it was written, it is much more interesting as a historical text, looking into what top scientists were thinking at the time.
