Il libro parte dal presupposto dell'armonizzazione fra i due maggiori sistemi operativi per PC: Windows e Linux. Spesso si spinge l'utente ad abbandonare completamente Windows per abbracciare "in toto" la filosofia OpenSource. Ma questo orientamento crea due ordini di problemi. Primo: spesso non è possibile. È verosimile che chi proviene da Windows abbia già delle applicazioni funzionanti e sperimentate per questo ambiente. Secondo: non è realistico. Presumendo che tutte le applicazioni debbano essere ricodificate per l'ambiente Linux si perderebbero tutti gli investimenti fatti in applicazioni, architetture di sistema, training e forza lavoro. Il testo mostra come ottenere il massimo dalla combinazione dei due ambienti. Libro.
