Some foxing, most noticeable on the end-papers and paste-downs. 8vo. Charles Knight. 1830-1831. ~ James Rennie (1787- 1867, Adelaide) was a Scottish naturalist. From 1830 to 1834 he was professor of natural history and zoology at King's College, when his Chair was abolished due to a dearth of students. From then on he made his living as a natural history author, and emigrated to Australia in1840, where he ran the College High School in Elizabeth Street, Sydney, with an emphasis on the arts and natural history. He co-authored Insect Transformations with John Obadiah Westwood, Fellow of the Linnean Society and president of the Entomological Society of London (1852-1853).

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spines and to the extremities. Spines are a little faded. A few light marks to the cloth. Small tear to the rear joint of Volume I. Hinges of Volume I are starting, as is the rear hinge of Volume II. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean.
