Margaret Shepherd is a prominent artist and teacher of calligraphy, with a career spanning forty-five years; Shepherd has published numerous books about the history of calligraphy and correspondence, as well as instructional books on the art form itself, and has taught classes and workshops at the Rhode Island School of Design and Stanford University, among others (n. b., from the website of Margaret Shepherd).
