Add to basketMass Market Paperback. Condition: Fine. No Jacket. First Edition. Fine first paperback edition of this great book by the author of "The Golden Compass'. Book appears unread. Very minoe age toning which is common on British printings. Wraps are clean and the book is unmarked. A nice edition to any pullman collection.
Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. First Edition (first printing) - the card wrapper issue. 8vo. 184pp. The wrappers lightly toned. A very good copy of this early Pullman novel, his fourth book for children, published some eight years before 'Northern Lights' superstardom. Laid-in is a photocopy of a two-page handwritten letter from the author to his publisher ("Copies of 'How To Be Cool' look superb. It couldn't be better - I'm delighted with it! And if all of the things Miriam's lining up in the way of interviews etc. come off then people should certainly hear about it . My thanks for the care you've taken to get the jacket right. It is right - in fact it's perfect"). Also laid-in is an original handwritten letter from Martina Farrow who created the dust wrapper / front cover design, reacting with pleasure to Pullman's enthusiastic comments.
