Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. HARDBACK - EX LIBRARY COPY - A near very good book bound in the publisher's maroon cloth boards. Light pushing to the spine tips, also with a small bump to the base of the front and rear boards. The boards are clean with no soiling, The inner pages are very clean indeed considering that the book is an ex library copy, free of any foxing or finger marks. There is a library stamp to the copy rite page, there is also a partial library docket to the front end paper with a withdrawn from stock sticker partially covering the docket and partially stamped to the front end paper. The dust wrapper is in very good condition. There is light fading to the spine, but with no loss or tears. The dust wrapper is a clean example with the publisher's printed price of £ 3.50 net present to the lower front flap. A lightly read book in surprisingly nice condition considering it is an ex library copy. Initially printed as a paperback first edition. The hardback edition was printed in extremely small numbers, most of which were destined for the lending library system. The last of the Witchend titles and extremely difficult to acquire in collectable condition.

Cloth. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. Bertram Prance (illustrator). A delightful pair of books from Malcolm Saville's 'Lone Pine' children's series, complete with the unclipped dust wrappers. Comprising the twelfth impression of 'Mystery at Witchend' and a lovely Richard Griffiths facsimile edition of 'Home to Witchend'.Both complete with the original unclipped dust wrappers. The 'Lone Pine' series is the best known work of English writer Malcolm Saville. 'Mystery at Witchend' was the first book to be released in the series, setting off the strange and exciting adventures of the Morton family.Mainly set in Shropshire, Saville writes vivid descriptions of English countryside, villages and towns, with these two works centring around Witchend, an old house where the group founded the secret Lone Pine club. In the original cloth binding. With the original unclipped dust wrappers. Externally, with only shelf wear to 'Mystery', otherwise excellent. Dust wrapper for 'Home' is lovely, with edge wear and light chipping to the spine of 'Mystery'. Internally, firmly bound. Pages to 'Mystery' are age toned due to paper used, but very clean throughout. 'Home' is very bright and clean. Near Fine. book.

Hard Cover. Dust Jacket Condition: Dust Jacket. First Edition. First British Hardcover Edition first published in the UK 1978 in Armada Paperbacks). SIGNED COPY. Publisher's maroon boards with gilt lettering to the spine. Spine tips a little pushed and a couple of tiny bumps to the corners otherwise a VG+ copy. In the RARE dustwrapper priced £3.50 to the inside flap. The dustwrapper is also in VG+ condition with just touch of very minor wear to the extremities. This is - without doubt - the rarest Malcolm Saville first edition. It seems that virtually the entire print run was consigned to the UK library system. In the last 25 years I have only ever encountered one other first edition which was not a library copy. It is of legendary scarcity as a true hardback first edition.
