Humorous columns about civilian life during World War II first published in the Chicago Daily News. The book is square with sound hinges. A single page has some tanning where part of a newspaper article was used as a marker. Otherwise, pages are clean and undamaged. Blue cloth covers are completely clean but with some fading along edges. No bumped corners or rub wear. The dust jacket is not price-clipped. It shows very slight soiling, some toning (age tanning) and some stains along the seam between inside rear flap and back panel. It also has some chips and tears to the edges, the deepest of which is about 3/4". (Note: Photos may show magnified dust, a flash reflection, or color washout.) Paypal always welcome. Compiled from Yoder's beloved humor columns in the Chicago Daily News, There's No Front Like Home focuses on the petty irritations and absurdities of the war effort--particularly the propaganda around it. His targets include wartime etiquette, questionable innovations in clothing, the futility of the Victory Garden, and taxes. While Yoder is an unapologetic misogynist, the good in his writing far outweighs the bad. There's No Front Like Home is a fantastic snapshot of American life during war, including some of the more obscure aspects that have faded from the public's historical knowledge of the era. Owner gift inscription on title page, reading: "I don't know whether this is good for a laugh or not. Sue." Book about-fine, dust jacket with slight soiling and only light wear to extremities.
