Novel of a woman's return to society after her release from a mental institution. Bound in half black cloth over marbled paper-covered boards with lettering in white on spine. Square, tight and clean throughout with just a hint of off-setting to paste-downs but barely. No toning to pages. Some softness to spine ends. Attractive unclipped dust-jacket, ($3.50), has rubbing and wear to spine ends and tips. Faint creasing and mild toning to rear panel. Tiny closed edge-tear. Still fresh and bright and quite presentable. Though not marked in any way, this came directly from the library of H. Lawrence Hoffman who illustrated the dust-jacket. His son, David Hoffman, the noted documentary filmmaker, has signed a statement with information about his father, the artist, and attesting that the book was from his library. A copy of this is included. A pretty collectable copy of a quite scarce title.
