Nicking and fraying to the cloth at head and foot of spine and at corner tips, bumping to corners. Mild shelf and edge wear with some soiling and sc…uffing. Binding tight. Pages mildly toned, with brown staining to the gutter and fore-edge of the final leaves. Otherwise unmarked. Purports to be the memoir of a Berlin physician and psychoanalyst who treated Hitler for fifteen years from 1919. The text first appeared as Inside Hitler (Avalon Press, 1941) at 445 pp, reset here to 322. Its standing was in question from the start. Upton Sinclair opens his foreword by admitting "I do not know the author of the book. I assume that he exists, because I have a letter from him," and grants that "there is a sense in which this book is of necessity fiction," Krueger having got no notes out of Germany. Otto Strasser, who contributes the introduction, led the exiled Black Front and was the brother of Gregor Strasser, killed in the 1934 purge. Strasser (and his brother Geor…ge) were high-ranking NSDAP officials 1925-1933 until the Strasser's became dissidents and anti-Hitler. Hitler murdered George and Otto escaped overseas prior to the beginning of the war. [++] The "Lasswell" written on the front wrapper is probably Harold D. Lasswell.

Encuadernación de tapa blanda. Condition: Nuevo. Otto Strasser luchó en la Primera Guerra Mundial. Al regresar a Baviera en 1919, militó en los Freikorps que acabaron con la República Soviética de Baviera. Por esos años, también se afilió al SPD. En 1920 se opuso al golpe de Kapp y en 1925 participó en la refundación del NSDAP,…en el que militó varios años como periodista del Partido. Intentó desarrollar la línea socialista en el programa nacionalsocialista de 25 puntos, al que consideraba insuficiente para establecer un verdadero socialismo. Creó una facción en el NSDAP junto con su hermano Gregor y Joseph Goebbels. La facción de Strasser en el NSDAP fue defenestrada en 1926 en la Conferencia de Bamberg, cuando Joseph Goebbels cambió su apoyo desde los hermanos Strasser hacia Hitler. Otto Strasser y su hermano Gregor siguieron dirigiendo el ala izquierda del NSDAP hasta 1930, cuando fue expulsado Otto Strasser, por el contrario su hermano Gregor Strasser siguió en el partido hasta su asesinato en 1934 por sus conflictos con Himmler y Goering. Tras la expulsión formó su propio partido: el Frente Negro, junto con otros nacionalsocialistas disconformes, pero con la llegada al poder de Hitler en 1933 marchó al exilio, primero a Praga y después en 1941 a Canadá. En 1934 el ala izquierda del NSDAP fue aniquilada en la llamada Noche de los Cuchillos Largos y sus miembros asesinados, entre ellos su hermano Gregor. Tras la Segunda Guerra Mundial volvió a Alemania, viviendo hasta su muerte en la ciudad de Munich.
