Publisher's hardcover cloth in illustrated dust-jackets. No inscriptions or price clipping. A very fine set, in similarly fine box. James Bond originals and film novels, handsomely presented in a custom-made box. Each book is signed directly to the title page in Benson's customary black sharpie. Most uncommon thus (signed bookplates were often used). Autographed in our presence [the author held several launch events/signing sessions at our London bookshop]. Hubin; Crime Fiction IV. Octavo. Original blue wrappers, printed in black. A fine copy. Uncorrected proof copy of the first US edition, published simultaneously in the UK. This is one of the more elusive Benson items: no proof copies were issued in the UK for any of Benson's James Bond titles, and only a handful of proofs appeared in the US. This copy has pleasing provenance: from the library of author, publisher, and Ian Fleming bibliographer Otto Penzler, and latterly part of the significant Ian Fleming collection of Martin Schøyen (b.1940), with his bookplate. Schøyen's private collection of manuscripts, which span all cultures and all time periods, is one of the largest and most comprehensive of its kind. Gilbert, p. 613; The Schøyen Collection No. 366.
