First Edition Signed
Geoff Dunbar. (illustrator). MCCARTNEY, Paul and ARDAGH, Philip. High in the Clouds. London: Faber and Faber 2005. Illustrated by Geoff Dunbar. Signed by Paul McCartney. Included with this book is the wristband and the written instructions regarding attendance at the event held at Waterstone's Piccadilly where the signing took place. Fine copy in like dj. Note: I managed to source this book from a fellow bookseller, a friend, who described the lead up to the event and the event itself as follows: "We were at the McCartney event in London at Waterstones, Piccadilly. I had chosen Paul McCartney as my favourite Beatle at the age of 16! Previously, I had queued for several hours outside Waterstones, Piccadilly when he was promoting his book of Paintings but was unsuccessful that time (although I did make friends with a group of Irish youngsters in the queue behind me) we were near the cut-off point! In order to try to be more successful the next time for High in the Clouds we left our bed in the middle of the night and travelled by train & taxi to Piccadilly early December and queued through the night until 7.00 am the next day when we were issued with wristbands we had to wear until the following Wednesday where we were to be handed a book by Paul McCartney himself. We queued again, in the shop this time and we were told by the security company employed by Waterstones that we were not to talk to him, this peeved me somewhat especially as we had queued outside in the cold for half a night and so I decided to ignore this instruction and had a nice conversation with Paul McCartney when I was passed the book. Along with the book we are going to send some provenance regarding this event, the wristband and the written instructions regarding attendance." Included with this book is the wristband and the written instructions regarding attendance at the event held at Waterstones Piccadilly where the signing took place".
