Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Published by Chatto and Windus in 1960, here is the first hardback printing of Basil Willey's Darwin and Butler: Two Versions of Evolution (The Hibbert Lectures 1959). 116 pages, red cloth binding, gilt lettering, the book is in very good condition with some very minor bumping to the board edges, some light end paper browning and the name of a previous owner (the revered Oxford scholar and Hertford College fellow Anthony Cockshut) written in black ink to the front free end paper. Anthony has also made some pencil markings and annotations in the borders near the back of the book. The dust jacket is good with some light brown staining/ finger marking to the covers and spine plus a small closed jagged tear near the top of the spine. A very nice offering.
