Stamped "Received New York Legal Department Jul. 19 1943." Apparently prepared for the legal department to review, and dated just one month before the film was released. The Ernst Lubitsch-directed classic, highlighed by Raphaelson's witty script, featured Don Ameche as a would-be sinner not quite bad enough to get into Hell on his deathbed, and Gene Tierney as his long-suffering love.
