Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Philadelphia: Triangle Books/Blakiston [printed from 1939 Morrow 1st edition plates]. First Triangle Edition. Fine hardcover, in Very Good dustwrapper with slight edge wear. Set in the Oxbow foothills, an old feud is rekindled and the peaceful valley thrown into a terror of gun battles. This novel was expanded from the novelette "Storm" that appeared in the pulp magazine "Ranch Romance." Edward Beverly Mann, son of a Methodist minister, was born in Hollis, Kansas, on January 31, 1902. A rugged sportsman, he was a columnist for "Field and Stream" and edited gun magazines, including "The American Rifleman" for the National Rifle Association. His commitment to the history of the west was fulfilled during his 1950s editing stint overseeing the University of New Mexico Press. When he died in 1989 he left his books and personal papers to the American Heritage Center at the University of Wyoming.
