Plates are bright and clear, with some light tanning and foxing to edges. Binding remains firm. Boards have light shelf-wear with corner bumping. Small scratches and dents to boards. Heavy sunning to spine with notable crushing to spine ends. Silver lettering is bright and clear.

Loosely inserted is a long typed letter to a close friend and fellow astronomer - on two sides - SIGNED by Patrick Moore telling about some of the recent observations he has made of the moon's surface. The letter has his address in East Grinstead and is dated "1945 April 28." The recipient, Mr. Tompkins, has written on the top of the half-title, "A gift from my dear friend, Patrick Moore." Colour map of moon to endpapers. Illustrated with photographs and drawings. A clean and sound copy in a slightly worn wrapper with chips and tears to extremities.
