"Tenth Thousand" (as stated upon title page) - aka the "Geffard [sic] edition" named for President Fabre Geffrard. 1-180, 1-12 pages. Hardcover: H 19.5cm x L 12.75cm. Contemporary brown pebbled cloth; spine ends frayed; spine's gilt lettering dulled/flaked but discernable; front board's gilt stamped centerpiece vignette still fairly bright; board corners lightly bumped. Pale yellow endpapers. Past owner's ink signature "F.O. Goodlett" discreetly written at front pastedown's top left corner; toning to interior leaves with some foxing and small spots of staining. Tipped-in between pages 24-25 is large foldout color map titled "The Geffrard Map of the Island of Hayti . . .;" map has some toning/foxing and short closed tear at spine margin but still follows its original folds. Twelve page "Publisher's Bulletin" at book's rear. Unfortunately one quire (pages 13-24) detached and now laid-in; text block is otherwise firm. Preceded by an 1860 "Emigrant's edition" published in Boston by Thayer & Eldridge.
