A small guidebook issued by The Royal Mail Steam Packet Company for prospective and "intended" travellers for a trip on The "South American Route" beginning in Southampton proceeding to Spain and Portugal, Canary Islands, Teneriffe, Las Palmas, Rio De Janeiro, Monte Video, Buenos Ayres etc. The guidebook provides general descriptions of the people, history, customs and practices of the respective locales. There is also a "list of books recommended for passengers" available for order and accompanied with respective prices. A very amusing and uncommonly detailed travel book.
