8vo; original grey cloth, lettered in red on spine; no dustwrapper; pp. 191. Cloth somewhat worn and spine a little cocked; some foxing to edges. Good condition. "A versatile writer, he is the author of Tugela and Other Poems (1950) as well as several novels, including The Grey about the Flame (1952), Children of Pride (1959) and Man of the River (1968). . Well reviewed in South Africa, his novels have found a larger market overseas, particularly in Canada and New Zealand." - Adey, et al: Companion to South African English Literature, p. 95.
