The story of a man-eating orchid surmised by some to be the basis for the 1960 film of THE LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS. Small 4to gilt-stamped brown cloth; top edge gilt; publisher's notice tipped to title page stating the "Furnival" books are now published by Joiner & Steele but retain the William Jackson imprint so as to be "typographically uniform." Good or better with covers somewhat darkened, gilt spine lettering a bit dulled and two small circular sticker shadows on spine. Signed.

First edition thus, hardcover, has a mild lean to the binding, light bumps to the spine ends, faint smudging to the fore edge of the text block, a touch of very minor smoke odor to the pages, and horizontal creasing extending from the fore edge of about 15 pages that likely occurred during binding. Overall, this is a solid, sharp and bright, Very Good copy in an unclipped, Very Good+ dust jacket, which has a touch of rubbing with some faint smudging, and is wrapped in Mylar.

The "Furnival Books" were a series of shorter works from young authors, some of whom would go on to be considered the best of their day. The brainchild of bookseller and publisher A. W. Steele, he published these limited edition copies under two imprints, but the entire series of twelve books were all printed by the Chiswick Press between 1930 and 1932.
