Included are "Manners Can Be Fun" (October 26, 1937 - 9th printing), and "Grammar Can Be Fun" (October 26, 1937 - 8th printing). Published by Frederick A. Stokes Company in New York. Both…books are inscribed and signed by Leaf with sitck-figure drawings on the front end papers. Both books feature red and black & white drawings by Leaf on nearly every page. "Manners Can Be Fun" uses simple text and stick-figure drawings to teach kids the basics of etiquette and social behavior. Opening with the line "Having good manners is really just living with other people pleasantly," the book explains why being polite makes life better for everyone. "Grammar Can Be Fun" functions as a playful "grammar without tears" guide. It aims to teach proper speech and correct common grammatical errors to children without nagging. Munro Leaf was an American author and illustrator of children's literature who wrote and illustrated nearly 40 books during his 40-year career. He is globally recognized as the creator of "The Story of Ferdinand," a timeless juvenile classic. Condition: Both books are tightly bound with no cracks and no loose pages. All covers are firmly attached. Both books have an inscription by Munroe Leaf written in pen on the front end paper. Both books have clean text pages with no notable issues found. Both books have sharp cover corners. GRAMMAR - clean front cover; some small, dark stain spots on the back cover. MANNERS - heavy staining to the back cover; small stain spots on the front cover; some mild foxing on the end papers and pastedowns. A bit of wear along the edges of the cover, with b…oards peeking through split cloth just slightly at corners. A few light spots staining back cover. Stamping on front cover is crisp and unfaded. Binding is strong. Majority of pages are undamaged. Bottom corner of one page is torn off. Some pages have the occasional light spot from age. The final page of text reads "These next pages have mistakes I make and the pictures are drawn by ME." On this page and the next few blank pages are a child's drawings in thick black marker, which bleed through to the pages on either side. DJ is slightly dingy and discolored, with some tearing along the edges. Lettering and illustration remain deeply colored and vibrant. DJ is now protected in clear mylar sleeve. Vintage children's book is overall charming and well-preserved. Features simple black and red illustrations throughout.
