Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Coding theory is an approach to various science disciplines such as information theory, electrical engineering, data transmission, mathematics, and computer science which helps design efficient and reliable data transmission methods so that redundancy can be removed and errors corrected. The first, source encoding, attempts to compress the data from a source in order to transmit it more efficiently. This practice is found every day on the Internet where the common 'Zip' data compression is used to reduce the network load and make files smaller. The second, channel encoding, adds extra data bits to make the transmission of data more robust to disturbances present on the transmission channel. The ordinary user may not be aware of many applications using channel coding.…

Edgar NelsonGilbert was an American mathematician and coding theorist, a longtimeresearcher at Bell Laboratories whose accomplishments include theGilbert-Varshamov bound in coding theory, the Gilbert-Elliott model ofbursty errors in signal transmission, and the Erd¿s-Rényi model forrandom graphs. Gilbert was born in 1923 in Woodhaven, New York. He didhis undergraduate studies in physics at Queens College, City Universityof New York, graduating in 1943. He taught mathematics briefly at theUniversity of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign but then moved to theRadiation Laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, wherehe designed radar antennas from 1944 to 1946. He finished a Ph.D. inphysics at MIT in 1948, with a dissertation entitled Asymptotic Solutionof Relaxation Oscillation Problems under the supervision of NormanLevinson, and took a job at Bell Laboratories where he remained for therest of his career. He retired in 1996.…

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articlesavailable from Wikipedia or other free sources online. In coding theorythe Gilbert-Varshamov bound is a bound on the parameters of a (notnecessarily linear) code. It is occasionally known as theGilbert-Shannon-Varshamov bound (or the GSV bound), but theGilbert-Varshamov bound is by far the most popular name. Coding theoryis the study of the properties of codes and their fitness for a specificapplication. Codes are used for data compression, cryptographyerror-correction and more recently also for network coding. Codes arestudied by various scientific disciplines-such as information theoryelectrical engineering, mathematics, and computer science-for thepurpose of designing efficient and reliable data transmission methods. This typically involves the removal of redundancy and the correction (ordetection) of errors in the transmitted data.…
