Trade Paperback. Condition: Used - Good. Welsh-born, Toronto-based photographer Geoffrey James is known for his work in culturally charged landscapes. Running Fence documents the first 14 miles of the border fence separating the United States and Mexico. With its ironic reference to Christo, James' Running Fence explores the contradictions of the border in the context of globalization. Of this project James writes, 'I photographed along both sides of the fence -- this strange, improvised barrier demarcating two cultures, two mentalities, and two economies, that are also one I went to the border as an outsider. What I came back with can make no claim to be anything other than the astonished presentation of facts.' James has exhibited internationally at documenta 9 at Kassel and at major museums throughout North America. Slight scratching/scuffing on dust jacket. Book has minor shelf wear. Smudging on dust jacket. Two small rips on dust jacket - upper edge of front and back cover.
