Signed, inscribed and dated by Nikki Giovanni in the year of publication, on the title page. For ___, Power! Nikki 31 Dec 71. Previous owner's name on FFEP, matching the name of the recipient on the title-page inscription. Book is tight. Binding and hinges are sound. Mustard-color cloth is bright; stamped in bright red titles on spine. A touch of scant foxing on top edge. A couple of page corners were dog-eared, but since flattened. Rare original DJ is present, with $5.95 price intact on front flap. DJ shows a couple of tiny rubs along extremities; minor sunning to spine. A VG+ copy of Nikki Giovanni's powerful classic; signed and dated in the year of publication, in its original, uncommon DJ. Signed by Author(s).

Signed, inscribed and dated by Nikki Giovanni on a loosely laid-in, adhesive-backed bookplate. Book is about fine; tight, clean and bright. Binding and hinges are sound. Mustard-color cloth is bright; stamped in bright red titles on spine. Tiny chip to edge of front pastedown. Two tiny faint age spots on top page edges. Original, rare DJ is in poor condition as the majority of it is missing. Four-fifths of the front is present, and the front flap with $5.95 price intact. The rest of the DJ is absent. A near-fine copy of Nikki Giovanni's powerful classic; with a signed, loosely laid-in bookplate, in a poor, albeit rare, DJ. Signed by Author(s).

Wrappers slightly bumped and scuffed at spine ends; versos toned. Binding sound. Textblock foxed at top; interior pages clean. Signed by author on half-title page. Very Good or better. First published in hardcover by Bobbs-Merrill Company in 1971. This collection of thirteen personal essays was a finalist for the 1973 National Book Award.
