Minor issues present such as mild cracking, inscriptions, inserts, light foxing, tanning and thumb marking. Boards have moderate shelf wear with some rubbing, fraying and corner bumping. Some moderate sunning and tanning, particularly to spine. Gilt lettering to spine is dulled.

It describes my talks with him, my successful attempts to extort intimate confessions from him, our constant disagreements, his outbursts over some of my inferences, and his repudiations of many stories that have grown up around his personality . . . The second part describes Shaw's life from the date reached in my biography to the end of his career." Shaw died on 2 November 1950.
