Robert Geoffrey Trease (1909-1998) was a prolific British writer who published 113 books, mainly for children. 'The Gates of Bannerdale' is one of his popular 'Bannermere' books, and is a career story that should appeal to boys and girls planning their future. This edition includes a new introduction by Sally Dore, an essay on Trease and Oxford by Hilary Clare, and a publishing history of the Bannermere Series by Laura Hicks. There is an appendix detailing erros in the first edition of 1956 by Laura Hicks. The book is bound in paperback form with an illustration on the front cover, and is in excellent condition. The contents are tight and clean with no inscription.
