Ses premières représentations sontt des opéras-comiques et des Suvres de la Commedia dell arte. En 1772 son théâtre devient le Théâtre des grands Danseurs du Roi insigne faveur obtenue grace à son talent. En 1792, il devient directeur du Théâtre de la Gaité, dans lequel, suite à l abolition du privilège exclusif de la Comédie Française, il peut faire représenter de véritables comédiesTrès bel exemplaire.
