Known for his translations, interpretations and direction of the kabuki, jinju and bunraku forms of performance, Scott's work helped both preserve and expand the underlying artistic principles for Western audiences, particularly through his program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. (Asian Theatre Journal 28:2). Kokusai Bunka Shinkokai, 1939; stated third printing; 36pp. Stiff printed card wraps, gilt on black title box. Twelve pages of black and white illustrations and photos at rear. Wraps worn off spine, binding remains firm and fully intact; moderate amount of wear to edges of wraps, rubbing to corners; text, photos illustrations very good throughout; Scott's name written on front end page (not by Scott himself). Le papier des pages de garde est du Torinoko qui vient de la province de Fukui au Nord du Japon. Le papier utilisé pour le texte est du Shigarami-gami, produit pendant l'hiver en très petite quantité. La Kokusai Bunka Shinkokai (Société pour le développement des relations culturelles internationales), avait pour but de familiariser les étudiants étrangers en séjour au Japon avec la culture japonaise et organisa un cycle de conférences du 15 octobre au 6 décembre 1935. Bruno Taut arrivé au Japon en 1933 y délivra cette conférence le 30 octobre 1935.Première édition anglaise et premier tirage, traduction de Mr. Glenn F. Baker et Mr. H.E.
