Boards have moderate shelf wear with some rubbing, fraying and corner bumping. Some moderate sunning and tanning, particularly to spine.

A boys' adventure story which also aims "to give a full picture of the life of a marine engineer". First edition, first printing, 1934. Colour frontis, 6 full page illustrations and wonderful dust jacket art by Rowland Hilder. Prize label (1938) on front endpaper and a very little foxing otherwise in lovely condition with no inscriptions. In a bright price-clipped dust jacket with small loss at ends of spine, now in removeable protective cover.

A little spotting to the text block edges but no intrusion to the pages which remain clean and fresh, with no marks or inscriptions. Attractive colour frontispiece.

The full color frontispiece and the remaining 6 full page illustrations as well as the dust jacket art all by Rowland Hilder. With a prize plate to the front free endpaper, dated 1938. The book is extremely solid and square. The dust jacket shows only minor wear to the eges with some very minor loss to the head of the spine. The jacket is price-clipped. Lawerence R. Bourne was the pseudonym of Lawrence Harbourne, 1879-1941. He was the author of dozens of books but was most famous for his Boys Adventure Books, set largely on the High Seas. Offered here is one such title. A lovely copy in all respects. Near Fine / Very Good.
