Pages and binding are presentable with no major defects. Minor issues present such as mild cracking, inscriptions, inserts, light foxing, tanning and thumb marking. First edition, first printing. Publisher's original blue cloth with pictorial onlay to the upper board and titles in gilt to the upper board and spine. Illustrated with 22 black and white photographic plates. A very good copy, the binding square and firm with a couple of minor marks to the boards, a little bumping to the top corners and a touch of toning to the spine. The contents with a previous owner's pencil inscription to the front free endpaper, slight toning to the endpapers and just a handful of very faint dots of foxing to the preliminary pages are otherwise clean throughout. An early twentieth-century guide to theatrical performance, including sections on the laws of expression, gesture, and speech.
