Ex-Library. 1st edition. 369pp, (5x7 inches), 64 b&w plates, glossary, "general service code." Ex-Library, hardcover, no dust jacket. Has been rebound by the library, red cloth, gilt spine title. Has the usual remnants of a pocket, ownership stamps. Pages barely tanning, one page corner creased, one of the fold-out plates is torn, but the other half is laid into the book next to it (would be easy to mend). World War One. Please note, this is the original book vrom 1918.

Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. DJ has a few creased tears with missing paper, including one to the front center right over the author's photo. DJ is missing the top spine end, has a few slight stains, and has light edge wear. Title page is very slightly foxed. Endpapers are foxed. Half-title page and reverse of frontis are lightly foxed. Outside page ends have very slight foxing.

Facsimile of handwritten and singned inscription to page preceding table of contents: "Sammy, old boy, remember that you are going over to France to lick hell out of Germany. You can do it, too. Just give old Kaiser Bill and his wonderful efficiency stuff' such a yankee walloping that there won't be enough gas left to fill the envelope of one of his baby kill-ing gas bags called Zeppelins. Sammy, you've never been licked yet and you are getting too old to learn new habits. The old folks at home are proudly watching you, so get busy and make this little old world sit up and take notice. Arthur Guy Empey." Magnificently illustrated with 64 b/w photographs and illustrations [one in color], as issued. Minor scuffing and rubbing to boards, with head and tail of spine slightly bumped. Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. **Inscribed!** Fourth Impression of the 1918 copyrighted work. (The year 1918 is also printed at the bottom of the title page.) A Good+ 12mo hardcover in a fair to good dust jacket. Briefly inscribed on the ffep as follows: 'To / Eleanor / From / Guy / New York, N.Y. / July 21, 1921. The 'Guy' signature on the ffep matches the 'Guy' portion of the signature of author 'Arthur Guy Emprey' as it appears in the facsimile letter on the pre-Contents page. Remaining contents, 369 pp., + ads, 64 illus., with a tissue guard to the frontispiece illus., appear to be clean and securely bound albeit slightly age tanned. The red cloth boards with stamped gilt titling are bumped and rubbed in the corners and in the spine head and tail edges, and there is a small scuff on the upper board. There is also a slight bit of cocking to the spine. The dj, which has ads on the underside, shows some wear and aging. It is chipped along the top and bottom edges and flap edges. Small 1 cm. hole on front cover. NOT an ex-library copy! Inscribed by Author.
