Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Small 8vo. Softcover. Pp. 50. In very good condition, with some minor scuffs and creases along the edge and corners. Some faint stains on the back cover and spine slightly faded. Pages themselves are clean and unmarked, though upper corners very lightly creased. A scarce first paperback edition of Frederick Seidel's auspicious first book of poems, which caused such a stir that it caused the Author to refrain from publishing again for 16 years. Seidel often makes use of violent and disturbing sexual imagery and presents himself as a rather unlikeable aesthete who embraces his own "elite" brand of materialism (a love for motorcycles and handmade shoes). However, Seidel often ironizes this persona, pushing it to extremes. His work is also notable in that he frequently makes use of rhyme and meter. One of Seidel's earliest influences was Robert Lowell. Seidel has stated, "The influence of Lowell [on my first book Final Solutions was] unmistakable".
