Profusely illustrated in colour and black & white throughout. Generally an excellent copy. This Arabian Album is Ronald Codrai's personal record of the people of the Emirates at the middle of the last century. "Faces of the Emirates has been a long time in the making - more than 50 years. Ronald Codrai lived in the Emirates in the 1940s and 50s and, 40 years later, began work on the Arabian Album series depicting the people and places of the era; this book is the latest addition to the series. It is clear from the images that Codrai enjoyed his time in the Emirates of old, particularly the warmth of the people. He was also privileged to meet and photograph all of the Rulers and most of the members of the Ruling Families of the time, including several of today's Rulers in their youth. His great achievement in photographing them, and so many other interesting faces, has left us with an invaluable historical record" (Sheik Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in the foreword).
