Paperback. Condition: Near Fine. Book. 145 x 96 mm, small artist's book of 6 photographs published to coincide with the artist's exhibition - 'Extinction', March 1974. Gibbs's first exhibition upon moving to Amsterdam was Extinction - where a polysterene and hardboard template of the alphabet was doused in petrol, set on fire, and then put out with a fire extinguisher by the artist. In a booklet using photomontage Gibbs superimposes a formal alphabet that becomes energized while obliterated by the extinguisher. Condition: minor handling marks together with printing smudge on cover and one foxing mark to outer right edge, contents fine. VG/NF.
