Eshbach is a recognised as one of the finest desk references among engineers. In the days before internet, it was just about all you needed for reference material. Title is part of Wiley Engineering Handbook series. Ovid Wallace Eshbach (1893-1958) was Dean of Northwestern's Technological Institute from '39 to '53. He published the 1st Edition of what is now known as Eshbach Handbook in 1936. The revisions leading to the Second Edition in 1955 were supervised by him during his last illness. The copy for sale is from the 3rd Edition, 1975. x + 1562pp. Mott Souders, Jr. (1904-1974) a retired Chemical Engineer from Shell Development Company, co-ordinated the revisions for the 3rd Edition, published in 1975. A 4th edition of 1990 runs to over 5,000 pages, so would be hard to use as a one volume physical book. Hardcover has brown flexible boards with gold lettering on front and spine, but no DJ, Book has been modified to hide prior ownership. Title page removed, taped to restore book integrity. Top of next page neatly cut off and pencil blackout to hide POS. Interior is otherwise tight, clean and unmarked. Because the title page was lost, dates, printing detail and catalog codes are not available. Stated 3rd Edition with Mott Souders preface dated February, 1974.
