First edition hard back binding recently rebound in heavy deep purple cloth covers, navy morocco and gilt title label to the spine, blind tooling to the perimeter edges of the front and rear boards. Folio. 15'' x 11''. Contains frontispiece (plate lvii), additional illustrated title page, title page, (viii), 116 printed pages of text with monochrome illustrations and geometric drawings throughout the text block, followed by 71 full-page (as called for) single-sided plates including one colour and many double-page. Foxing to the later pages and plates, two plates have well executed humorous colour illustrations to the verso. Just rebound leaving the volume sound and strong to handle and use.
