The author's first book, a collection of verse.Presentation copy from the author to his literary agent, inscribed on the title-page: ''For John Johnson first person to read this book - William Radice, 16 May 1974''. Laid in are: the typescripts, signed by the author, of two 24-line poems, dated 24.7.77 and 14.8.77; typescript, with a few holograph corrections, of a ''preface'' by the author in which he clarifies some of the many obscurities in the book - these are clipped together with a sheet bearing the ink stamp of John Johnson; three Autograph Letters Signed by the author, the first two from 1974, the third from 1978 and presenting the two typescript poems; a Christmas card from 1978 to John Johnson and his wife, inscribed by the author and containing a translation by him from Bengali verse, in typescript.Inserts: some creasing; very good. Book: presentee's nameplate on front pastedown; spine slightly faded; tail of spine bumped; very good indeed in fine dustwrapper.
