This book was "one of the most widely used college textbooks in the history of American education" and was "the nation's best selling textbook for nearly thirty years," according to Samuelson's New York Times obituary (December 13, 2009).

Peor que eso: aprendí a fuerza de golpes a ser un ecléctico irremediable". "Los académicos siguen debatiendo si Colón introdujo la sífilis en el Nuevo Mundo o fue al revés. Pero no cabe duda de que la crisis mundial de 2008 lleva en su etiqueta las palabras Made in USA.
