First edition of this uncommon memoir detailing the historical underpinnings and early guerilla warfare training and actions by the Irish Republican Army by one of its former officers. O'Callaghan (1918-2000) details their struggles against the Irish Free State, guerilla warfare with General O'Duffy's fascist-minded Blueshirts, fighting with the Communists in the Spanish Civil War, and even flirting with Hitler during World War II. O'Callaghan's memoirs and journals are held by the National Library of Ireland.
