A longtime California College of the Arts Graphic Design facult…y member (41 years to be exact) and professor emeritus, Reoutt also was a book illustrator, curator, painter, and genuinely appreciated and loved member of the CCA community. He was born in 1938 in Shanghai to Russian parents. He came to the United States when he was just 12 years old. He went on to cofound the San Francisco chapter of the AIGA, including serving a nine-year board position as design historian. In 2001 Reoutt received the AIGA Fellowship award for "personal and professional contributions to raising the standards of excellence within our design community." He passed away May 14, 2008.

From the series "Brush, Pen and Pencil". Dudley Hardy (1867 1922) was an English painter and illustrator. In 1882 he attended the Düsseldorf Academy where he remaine…d for three years. After a further two years' study in Paris and at Antwerp Academy he returned to England to live and work in London. In 1885 Hardy began exhibiting at the Royal Academy, an association that lasted to his death. The preferred subjects for his work became the Middle East and Brittany; painting scenes of desert life and Breton peasantry. His interest in illustration led to the production of French graphic influenced poster imagery, most notably the Yellow Girl advertisement for Today magazine, and Gaiety Girls, a series of posters depicting actresses of the Gaiety Theatre. Much of Hardy's illustrative work is held at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
