Original brown boards boards with title in gold on the spine and black with illustration on the front board. 181 pages (+ 1 page of adverts on two sides for Morley's Universal Library). A VG copy with pushing at the spine tips and a small abrasion to the spine. More often seen with blue boards this is the first example that we have encountered with the variant brown boards which has the all-important date of 1887 to the title page. Pale yellow end-papers. 79 illustrations. Note: this is the hardcover edition and not the much-more-common stiff-wrappered edition of the same date. Rare.
