Hardcover. Condition: Good. Solid copy in pictorial cardboard covers with no inscriptions and still tightly bound and lightly toned pages. Spine is wirn and chipped with remnants of an old tape repair - though the boards are still firmly affixed.

(London: George Routledge and Sons 1887). First UK Edition. Dated 1887, a translation of a French conjuring work"Recueil de Tours de Physique Amusante" by Hoffmann. Original brown boards boards with title in gold on the spine and black with illustration on the front board. 181 pages (+ 1 page of adverts on two sides for Morley's Universal Library). A VG copy with pushing at the spine tips and a small abrasion to the spine. More often seen with blue boards this is the first example that we have encountered with the variant brown boards which has the all-important date of 1887 to the title page. Pale yellow end-papers. 79 illustrations. Note: this is the hardcover edition and not the much-more-common stiff-wrappered edition of the same date. Rare.
